FALL/WINTER LEAGUE

RECREATIONAL/CLUB PROGRAM

U6-U10

The U6-U10 club program will participate in one training session and one game day from September to March.  All teams will practice once per week with their volunteer team coach.  For the U6 and U7 age groups, players will be training on a turf/grass field until mid-October, after that they will be training indoors in a school gym and games will remain outdoors.

All teams at the mini/micro level will follow a club curriculum. Coaches will receive professional instruction on coaching philosophy, organization, and session structure through the clubs' coach development program provided by our Technical Staff.

The curriculum of the Micro Development Program is designed to meet the learning objectives of Learning to Train (Stage 3) of the CSA’s Long Term Player Development Pathway. By allowing the professional staff to support every player/coach in these ages, it ensures that everyone receives a consistent coach and player development seasonal plan.

U11-U18

Our U11-U18 club program will participate in one training session and one game day per week.  The season runs from September to February/March.  The club’s goal is to provide resources to all players, and help players and teams reach short and long term goals of development, through our extensive partnerships, training, academies (if registered), and player development. During the season, players are expected to attend practices once a week and play one game per week (boys play games on Saturday and girls play on Sunday) with a volunteer team coach.

As the need for technical proficiency continues, players of these age groups and levels will participate in a Technical Development program for technical/tactical practice sessions, “possession with a purpose”. This methodology ensures the developmental priorities of the player's technical and tactical needs are being met. The training for this program includes dribbling, turning, passing & receiving, and shooting.

PROGRAM DETAILS:

  • U6-U7 one training session a week while maintaining social distancing with an approved and certified volunteer coach.  Parent participation is required (1 parent per player)  while we are under Phase 1 of the BC Soccer return to play program.

  • U8-U18 one training session a week while maintaining social distancing with an approved and certified volunteer coach.

  • all team coaches will be trained with Safety Protocols and Social Distancing training sessions.

  • one game a week (boys play Saturday, girls play Sunday). Please see note in green below about upcoming games for the Fall 2020 season.

  • program is overlooked by our Technical Director and staff coaches

  • training on grass and/or and turf

  • games will be scheduled by South Fraser District Association for U10 + (subject to changes)

  • games will be inter-club play for U6-U9 (subject to changes)

At this time we are still under Phase 1 of the BC Soccer return to play program. We are hopeful that we will be moving to Phase 2 and playing games this fall; however, we have not had any formal communication from BC Soccer on when that may be.  In the meantime, we must continue to prepare for the season and be ready to play games when it is safe to do so.  There are many logistical components of preparing for the season from creating teams/rosters to registering teams with our district to creating "safe play" training schedules based on the number of teams we can have on the field.  All of these items need to be confirmed and finalized before the upcoming season so that we can be ready for games once we are given the go-ahead from BC Soccer.
