Coastal FC Announces BCSPL Intake Coaching Update

Re: 2009-born BCSPL Boys

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Coastal Football Club regrets to advise that Dave Corke is unable to continue as head coach of the Boys BCSPL 2009 Intake team. Unfortunately, the economic impact of COVID-19 has this week forced Dave to pursue other employment opportunities effective immediately. We are grateful for Dave’s efforts and contributions in the short time he was involved with the age group, and we wish him well in his future endeavours.

While we are sorry to see Dave leave, we are thrilled to announce Tino Sousa as the new head coach of the program. Tino comes to us with a wealth of coaching experience in high performance programming having coached at various clubs across the lower mainland. He will begin work in the Coastal BCSPL High Performance Academy, and will connect with our regional partners North Delta FC and South Delta United for the opportunity to scout and work with potential players ahead of the evaluations in February.

Tino arrived from Portugal in 1995 and began coaching 3 years later, gaining valuable experience coaching in the BCSPL, MSL, and club academy programs along the way. With 22 years of coaching experience behind him, Tino has developed an excellent reputation across the lower mainland for his ability to improve young players and advance them to higher levels of the game.

Mark McQueen, Technical Director of Coastal FC said, “The impact of COVID-19 continues to present challenges in many different aspects of life and it’s unfortunate our 2009 Boys Intake group have been affected as such. That said, we are fortunate to have a great solution for the players in Tino’s appointment, and I’m certain they will quickly adjust to the positive and enthusiastic environment he creates”.
